Matt Hayes
Partner in Charge
Matt is an architect and his work reflects his interest in designing commercially realistic low carbon buildings as well as his interest in the socio economic aspects of sustainable design, in particular local supply chains and natural resources. Architecture by its very nature impacts on a site in a physical way but also has the potential to influence the local area/community as well. His projects include Shorne Wood Country Park Visitor Centre built as an example of best practice for sustainable architecture and to demonstrate renewable technologies in North Kent. The centre is also architecturally important because of the pioneering use of indigenous sweet chestnut in its structure and has since its completion generated significant interest from architectural students nationwide.
Chris Palmar
Lead Consultant
Chris has an Msc in Sustainable Architecture from the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) in Wales, Europe’s leading eco-centre and is also a licensed Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH) Assessor. He believes that architectural design should be sensitive and sustainable to both the local and global environment with the correct theories and technologies being applied for the right reasons. He also believes that an excellent working relationship with the client and the ability to offer up to date knowledge on environmental design is paramount to the success of sustainable projects in the 21st century. Chris has been involved in a wide range of sustainable schemes over the last five years which include exploration of straw bale construction techniques. He has also given instruction on straw bale construction projects at workshops held at CAT.
